Cala Boquer

The road starts in Port de Pollença at the left of Formentor road there is a path surrounded by pine trees that is the entrance to the Possessió de Bóquer. Once there crossing an iron gate passing through two big rocks and after the green pine trees area we can observe the archaeology jewel of the area, a group of one of the most important nave style constructions known and a lime oven that was active until 1935.

Cala Boquer

Cala Boquer

Once you reach the highest peak on the walk you can see some spectacular views looking down onto the beach of Cala Boquer and the secluded inlet.
It takes in total around about an hour to walk down to the beach and back. But be warned that the way you go is the only way back!

Cala San Vicente

The idyllic resort of Cala San Vicente is not so difficult to reach from Puerto Pollensa. The mountains on the west fall away at the Coll De Siller to entice us over. The area has long been a favourite with artists wanting to paint and you’ll soon see why, as the steep surrounding cliffs become more pronounced and the colour of the sea like something you’ve mixed on your palette.

Start from roundabout on sea front (next to taxi rank).Walk up main Pollensa road to the petrol station.
Just before the petrol station on the right hand side, turn into street Carrer de Cala Sant Vicenc. At the end of this street you will see the ring road. Cross over at the pedestrian crossing and head straight into Carrer de les Roses.
This street forks at the end. Take the left fork and follow the road where it will take a sharp right hand bend and then continue straight to the end of the street.

You will see the hills ahead of you at the end of the street and the road name is repeated (Carrer de les Roses)
Turn left here and walk along the road (there is a crash barrier to your left and a wall to your right).
Take the first turning on your right. There will be a metal sign on the wall saying SILLER and there should be a wooden signpost saying Cami de Siller al Coll de Siller (if it hasn’t been taken down again).

A short way up the track there are three pathways.

Take the middle path (ignore the no entry symbols) which has a breezeblock wall on your left and a stone wall topped by wire fencing on your right.

The path leads you past a house where there are double gates open just enough for one person at a time to pass through. Ignore the Propiedad Privada Prohibido El Paso sign as this applies to vehicles only.

Follow the track up through the pass. You will join a rough wide track at the top. Follow this until you come to a massive roundabout.

Take the second path to your right on the roundabout

There is a wooden sign saying Cami del Port de Pollenca a Cala Carbo
Follow the track down into Cala St Vicente

Palma Shopping

When in Mallorca you should go on shopping to the center of Palma, the main city, where you will find the most of the shops. The Plaza Juan Carlos I, next to the Cathedral, and the streets around are known to be the shopping area. Shops usually open from 10.00 in the morning and close at 01.30, they reopen during time the evening from 17.00 to 20.00.

El Corte Inglés

However, big shops usually do not close for lunch and are open during all day. Zara is open until 20.30 in the evening and El Corte Ingles (one, if not the only, big commercial centres that operate in Spain) until 21.30.

Saturday afternoon just a half of the shops or so open, and on Sunday every shop in Mallorca is closed. Keep this mind. On Sunday only the bars and restaurants are open.

ZaraZara (Paseo del Born, next to the Cathedral) is a must if shopping in Palma for its prices and quality,
but an H&M has been also opened recently not far from there.
If it is too late for shopping in the centre, you can still go to the Porto Pi Commercial centre, where many of the usual shops in the centre are open until 22.00.

Jaime III has been an know as the shopping street for many years and has the most of the good shops, as Camper (Mallorca best shoes), Mango (fashion for young girls) or Intimissimi for underwear.

From the Plaza Mayor (reached by walking up the stairs above the parking place) you can spot to San Miguel and Via Sindicato streets, where shops are more traditional and frequented by the locals.

However we must not forget that Palma is great for culture, it’s a must to visit the cathedral and royal palace. There are also many historical monuments. Explore the Old City, south east area behind the cathedral, there is a diverse range of interesting buildings with window boxes, metal carvings and overhanging eaves. The old city is also home to the Ajuntament (or Town Hall), the Convent of the Cathedral and the Banys Àrabs.

Puig de Maria

A sanctuary located at 330 metres, at the foot of the town, chapel, towerand walls… everything built between XIVth centuries. The gothic style predominates. The church is one of nave and preserves a popular image of the Virgin from the XIVth century. It was an important monastey and it was abandoned for a long time. Through this sanctuary there have been hermits, donors and religious orders. It has a path of stones from the XIVth century. It is recommended to do the journey on foot which is accessible just behind the Renault garage in Pollensa. An interesting fact is that when it was built, the American Air Force brought in helicopters to help lift building materials to the top.

On the main road from palma to pollenca, at 52km you will see a sign pointing to the Puig de maria. The climb up steps takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. The entire walk covers 7km. The sanctuary offers accommodation as a refuge. 22 euros per night for 2 bed accommodation plus 7euros each for a third or fourth person. Beware, there is no heating and bathrooms are communal, and only one shower comes with hot water. Hot food and baguettes are available and a bar service though. There is also a barbecue available for use.
