how to visit Formentor Beach from Puerto Pollensa

Formentor beach is one of the most well known and popular places in Puerto Pollensa area, and today we would like to share some options for visiting it.

Formentor beach is situated at Cala Formentor or Cala Pi de sa Posada, 14 kilometres far away from Puerto de Pollensa. At Formentor beach you can find the hotel Formentor and the beach. There are different ways to get there:

Visit Formentor on an organised excursion

You can find some excursions visiting Formentor beach, but probably the best excursion is The Formentor Xperience. This is a 4 hour excursion on a cabrio bus visiting not just the Formentor beach but the Colomer viewpoint, and it also includes a 25 minutes boat trip from Formentor beach to Puerto Pollensa.

On the public bus to Formentor:

The public bus from Port Pollensa to Formentor is the cheapest way to get to Formentor beach, for only 4€ return ticket. The only 2 contras are that there are only 4 trips a day, and it doesnt include the stop at the Colomer view point.

Unfortunately there is no public bus to Cap Formentor, neither any organised excursion, so if you want to visit Cap Formentor, the next suggestion is ideal:

Rent a car to go to Formentor:

Another option is to rent a car to visit Formentor beach. Then, you can also take the opportunitty to drive to the lighthouse, to visit Albercutx watchtower or to go to Cala Figuera for a bath. The options are wider, but have in mind this is a busy road, especially in Summer season.

For those who like cycling, the bycicle is another option though it is first uphill, and not likely reccomended in Summer due to the heat.

Visit Formentor beach by boat:

You can take the local ferry to Formentor beach from Puerto Pollensa. It takes 25 minutes, and it runs regularly from May to October. The price is approx. 13,50€ for the return ticket.

It is a great way to get there, as the views on the boat trip are sublime, passing Sa Fortaleza, small coves and a beautiful scenery.
