Many families visit me and ask me what to do with the kids while they are here in Puerto Pollensa, and this is the reason why I have decided to take the time to write a comprehensive guide for families visiting Puerto Pollensa.

Why to spend your holiday in Puerto Pollensa with kids?

Before I start giving you recommendations, I have to explain you why I think Puerto Pollensa is ideal for families with kids:

• The village is not huge and everything is easy to reach by feet. So all at one hand for the family!
• It is a nice and quiet resort, nothing to compare to other resorts like Cala d´Or, Magalluf and Palmanova.
• Most likely you will have a swimming pool at your hotel or villa. However, the beach and beautiful sea are never far away!

Things to do in Puerto Pollensa with kids: beach time!

Beaches in Puerto Pollensa are wide and provided with sunbeds and parasols which you can hire.

The beach along the pinewalk is a lot smaller, but if you pass the port you will find yourself much more space. As well as water sports like canoeing, rent-a-water-bike and paddle surfing. A day of sailing in the bay is also a good idea! Children meet children and different nationalities are mixed and a great experience for them.

The costs to hire two sunbeds and a parasol at the beach is € 12,50 for a whole day.

Things to do in Puerto Pollensa with kids: playgrounds!

The seafront in Puerto Pollensa knows two playgrounds; one is situated near hotel Uyal and the other one opposite hotel Daina in the center. You will find a small park in front of the Guardia Civil where is a playground as well, the good thing here is there are trees around so children will be able to play in the shade.

Things to do in Puerto Pollensa with kids: A day on a boat to see the fishes?

Always a good idea and very interesting is an excursion with the glass bottom boat! Check out all the fishes and spend some time at one of the most beautiful beaches of Mallorca; Formentor!

There are different boat trips available from Puerto Pollensa:

• Glass bottom boat around the bay of Pollensa

Things to do in Puerto Pollensa with kids: Waterfun

In the summer Puerto Pollensa is provided with its own little water paradise! In the sea you find an inflatable playground for great fun! Very near Puerto Pollensa is a town called Alcudia, Alcudia is bigger and a lot busier. Here you find your nearest waterpark and the only waterpark in the north of Mallorca, the Hidropark! Children just love it here and grown-ups will feel like children.

Mallorca knows two more amazing waterparks;

• Aqualand
• Western water park

Both parks are always well attended and very popular in the summer. Therefore we organize excursions from Puerto Pollensa to these parks every day.

Things to do in Puerto Pollensa with kids: drinks and food

Puerto Pollensa knows many restaurants and there is something for everyone. From Asian restaurants to Spanish tapas bars and from fish restaurants and pizzeria’s to steakhouses. Nearly every restaurant offers a special menu for children which you will find showed at the terrace or near the entrance.

A must-have while you are in Puerto Pollensa is a delicious ice cream! Opposite the bus station and Tourist Office you will find a wooden cottage with the best ice creams in town, homemade and loads of choices.

Things to do in Puerto Pollensa with kids: Flora and fauna

Beaches are popular in Puerto Pollensa, but Mallorca knows a beautiful flora and fauna too. Especially when you like birdwatching, it is worth to visit the Albufera and Formentor area. You can always combine this visit with a swim in the sea, as there is always a beach nearby. The Albufera is easy to reach by local bus, busses are driving there every 15 minutes during the summer. The Formentor area knows a couple of beautiful little bays which are possible to reach just by car, the beach of Formentor you can get to by local boat or ferry from Puerto Pollensa.

Things to do in Puerto Pollensa with kids: What to do by when there is an accident?

You can never be prepared enough for an accident. When something happens at the beach or in the sea, you will find lifeguards around you in between 09:00 and 18:00 o´clock. Are you staying in an hotel, you have the reception near you who are always willing to help when you are in need of medical specialties and when you have an emergency. In Puerto Pollensa you will find a few doctors and medical services, the Tourist Office will be able to help you with relevant information. The alarm telephone number for Spain is 112.

I would recommend to always having sun cream and water with you. The temperature can be high and the sunshine can be very strong, so we have to be careful. Many shops along the sea front and in the center sell sun creams and drinks as well.

Things to do in Puerto Pollensa with kids: Excursions in Mallorca

Who doesn´t love horses? Horse riding experiences you will find at a short distance from Puerto Pollensa, book them in advance at your No Frills Excursions shop and transport will be provided too!

Different options for horse riding:

• An evening out for a real cow-family! Horserding, bbq, linedancing and much more!
• Two hours horse riding on the beach
• One hour horse riding in the mountain
• Two hours horse riding in the mountain

Mallorca is great for a holiday with kids, as there is so much to do. Nice days out where everyone will be enjoying themselves are:
